Barbed wire is a type of fencing material that is made up of twisted strands of wire with sharp barbs or spikes protruding at regular intervals. 

Barbed wire is commonly used as a security measure to deter trespassing or to contain livestock. The barbs on the wire make it difficult for people or animals to cross over or through the fence without getting injured.
